WATER PROJECTS

WTP Filter Backwash to Sewer System
Budgeted at $200,000. Contracted at $82,706.
|
Project was mandated by TCEQ. Completion of construction on backwash lagoons and sewer lines expected by November 2009. When completed, will allow Water Treatment Plant backwash water to be discharged into the sewer system and allow elimination of sludge ponds. Pond cleaning and backfilling to be completed by Summer 2010. COMPLETED MAY 2010.

WTP Valve and Trough
Budgeted at $305,760. Contracted at $248,550.

Valves and actuators have been installed. Problems with the actuators were discovered after the installation requiring the company to replace damaged parts. The troughs encountered problems upon installation as well. Rain delays have lengthened the project. COMPLETED APRIL 2010.

WTP Bulk Chemical Storage
Budgeted at $175,000. Contracted at $228,578.
|
Project is in construction phase. When completed, facility will allow city to buy water treatment chemicals in bulk quantities allowing an approximate 40% savings annually.

Etheridge Farms Water Pressure Station
Budgeted at $200,000. Contracted at $218,035.

Project was mandated by TCEQ. When completed, will improve water pressure in the Etheridge Farms subdivision.

Wynne Road Water Line
Budgeted at $381,700. Contracted at $237,647.
|
Project loops the water system and provides improved water service to Wynne Community. With funds saved on low bid, city was able to extend line further than originally planned. COMPLETED

Proposed New City Lake
Preliminary cost estimates are in the $50,000,000 range.

The Grand Saline Creek Basin has been selected by Council as the preferred lake site. Efforts continue with Region D to include a lake option as our preferred strategy. |
WASTEWATER PROJECTS

East Outfall
Total cost estimate (without the influent lift station) approximately $1,200,000
|
Construction on project is being phased over several years. Commitment for 2009-10 is $224,000 and is being funded by Canton Economic Development Corporation. Project is in easement acquisition stage. PROJECT WILL BE DEFERRED UNTIL 2011-2012.

Total cost estimate approximately $1,200,000

Construction on project is being phased over several years. Materials for next phase acquired in 2008-09. PROJECT WILL BE DEFERRED UNTIL 2011-2012.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion

Project in land acquisition stage for an additional thirteen acres around plant site to accommodate plant expansion. No estimated start or completion dates at this time.

Wynne Road Sewer Line

Project will provide service to area not served in Wynne Community. COMPLETED APRIL 2010.

Athens/Church Street Sewer Project

Project will improve service to Athens Street areas where clay tile line has collapsed in places. COMPLETED APRIL 2010.

Estimated $10,500 labor costs. City to furnish materials.
